Description:
Social media is a broad subject and hence overwhelming. What is social media? How can it work for you? What can we do to reach and share our work with our audience? I’ll share tips and tricks I’ve learned over the years. How to use social media specific to your skill set and needs. Come with questions and join in on the conversation!
Benson Shum is a children’s book author and illustrator. The idea that an image or painting can evoke emotions and movement is what brought him to the world of picture books and animation. Benson uses watercolor, ink and digital tools to create his illustrations. His book, Anzu the Great Kaiju received a starred review from School Library Journal and was selected for the Kid’s Indie Next List recommended by American Booksellers Association. His book Alex’s Good Fortune was also selected to be part of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Aside from writing and illustrating, Benson is an Animator at the Walt Disney Animation Studios, where he was a part of such films as Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, Moana, Frozen 2, Raya and the Last Dragon and Encanto. Originally from Vancouver, BC, Benson now lives in sunny southern California.
EXTRA! Critiques available:
Benson is offering a limited number of critiques–for picture book manuscripts, picture book dummies, portfolios, and your social media account–at $50.00 each. If you would like to purchase a critique, you need to do so at the time of registration. After registering, please let Diane Bradley-Kantor (indiana-ra (at) scbwi.org) know which option you want a critique for. If it’s the written critique for a PB ms, you have until March 1, 2023 to email your ms to Diane. Benson will have your feedback for you by April 1st. If it’s one of the Zoom consultations, Benson will contact you to arrange a date and time for the meeting.
The option for critique will show up once you click on a ticket choice.
Picture book manuscripts should be no more than 700 words.
Win a critique from Benson!: If you’ve signed up for this webinar by February 15, 2023, you are automatically entered to win a critique from Benson. If you’ve already paid for one, we will refund you the money. Good luck! AND THE WINNER OF THE FREE CRITIQUE IS…DINA! Congratulations! Cancellation Policy & Trouble-Shooting:
Since this is an online event with a recording available for one month afterwards to watch at your own pace, there will not be any refunds issued.
If you have issues with registration or anything else, please contact Diane at indiana-ra (@) scbwi.org or Teresa at indiana-ra2 (@) scbwi.org. Send us an email if you do not receive your links by the dates noted at the top of the page.
