Digital Illustration Has Come a Long Way!

Description:

Co-RAs Diane Bradley-Kantor and Teresa Robeson are excited to offer a series of four webinars given by our region’s talented PAL members. These webinars are offered free of charge to all SCBWI members and with a small fee of $10 for non-members.

Our former RA and PAL author-illustrator member, Kristi Valiant, is our presenter for July:

Kristi creates her illustrations from sketch to finish on her computer, but some of her art directors and editors don’t realize it. During this session, you’ll learn ways to mimic traditional media in Adobe Photoshop. Kristi will also demonstrate her technique in Adobe Illustrator for drawing black & white realistic line drawings for educational work. All without the hazard of knocking dirty painting water over. Kristi will also throw in a few tips for catching the eyes of editors and art directors online.

Kristi has illustrated over 50 children’s books and was the Indiana SCBWI Regional Advisor for four years. She’s published by many of the largest publishing companies, and her books have received many honors including a Starred Review from School Library Journal, the APALA Picture Book Award, Bank Street Best Children’s Books of the Year, and The Cooperative Children’s Book Center top children’s book picks. EXTRA! Critiques available:

Kristi is offering a limited number of written critiques of portfolios at $45 each. If you would like to purchase a critique, you need to do so at the time of registration though you don’t have to send it until June 25, 2021. They will be completed and returned to you by the date of the webinar.

Please send 8-12 illustrations in a single PDF to Diane Bradley-Kantor (indiana-ra@scbwi.org) as an attachment in an email by June 25, 2021. Label your PDF with your first and last name, and be sure to put “Kristi Valiant critique” in your email subject line.

Cancellation Policy & Trouble-Shooting:

Since this is an online event with a recording available for one month afterwards to watch at your own pace, there will not be any refunds issued.
