CRITIQUE-NICS

Welcome to our 2019 Indiana CRITIQUE-NICS!

Registration is open for our September 21st Critique-nic!

Please click HERE to register so we know how many can attend.

Join us from 10 am to noon for the Southern picnic/critique event on September 21st from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at O’Bannon Woods State Park. 7234 Old Forest Road SW Corydon, IN 47112

Bring the first pages of your children’s manuscript. Friends or family members who want to polish their pages are welcome to come. You don’t need to be a SCBWI member to attend this event in Corydon.

We have divided the state into North, Central and South. Diane will organize and run CRITIQUE-NICS for the northern region. Teresa will organize and run CRITIQUE-NICS for the central region and Angie will run things for the south region. There are no definite boundaries or rules about attending events. You are welcome to attend as many of these free events as you can! We do ask that you register so we ensure there are people coming. Also, please let us know if you can’t attend, once you register.

WHAT TO BRING:

Writers will need to bring printed copies of one manuscript to share.  We will let you know how many to bring closer to the event, based on number attending. Please limit picture book manuscripts to under 800 words, Other genres may bring the first 2-3 pages of a longer piece of work to share for critique.

Illustrators may bring a few portfolio pieces or a picture book dummy for sharing and critique.

Or…feel free to find a spot and work! You are welcome to read, write, sketch, paint, etc.

This will be a very casual meeting to share our work, eat and socialize.

Everyone should bring your own picnic lunch. SCBWI will provide chilled, bottled water. There are picnic tables but you may want to bring a chair.

Weather shouldn’t be a concern as we have a shelter reserved.

Please contact Angie if you’re willing to host one of the CRITIQUE-NICS next summer. We would love suggestions! It should be a free or inexpensive location with a roof or inside option.

We are so excited to meet all of you this summer,

Angie, Diane and Teresa
